orn and raised in Englewood NJ, Ami Kozak began studying music at the age of 13 with renowned guitarist, percussionist, and producer Ray Ippolito. Under Ippolito, Ami learned bass guitar technique, musical improvisation, jazz harmony, and composition. Subsequently, Ami furthered his musical studies while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelors of Music degree. There he studied jazz and classical composition, ear training, arranging, songwriting, jingle writing, film scoring, scoring to visuals, music recording and engineering, and music business. In addition, he had the opportunity to further develop his instrumental skills on the bass guitar, piano, guitar and voice.
During his time at Berklee, Ami had the privilege of studying with world-class musicians such as Anthony Vitti, Joe Santerre, Daniel Ian Smith, John Aldrich, Mark Simos, Livingston Taylor and Tony Smith. He also had the opportunity to attend clinics regularly given by some of the most distinguished names in the business, including John Mayer, Grand Master Flash, Victor Wooten and Paul Simon. Over the years, Ami has developed his own unique style as a composer, bassist, vocalist, songwriter and performer. In his studio, Ami uses a combination of analog and digital instruments and records using the computer software programs Logic, Reason, and Digital Performer.
